WPP Buys Glendinning

Britain's WPP Group PLC has bought Glendinning Management Consultants Ltd., a 30-year-old sales and marketing management firm in Addlestone, Surrey.


The consultancy helps clients build skills and processes in customer management and marketing, demand management and sales development.


Revenue for the year that ended June 30, 2000, was $14.5 million, and net assets at were $2.5 million.


"This acquisition continues the implementation of WPP's strategy of building a stronger presence in fast-growing, functional and geographical areas of the communication services market," a WPP statement said.


Glendinning clients include Nestle, BP, Seagram, Tesco, Unilever, Kimberly-Clark Corp., Pharmacia, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Coca-Cola Co., Frito-Lay, H. J. Heinz Co., UDV and GlaxoSmithKline. Glendinning is already working with WPP's The Store, a retail knowledge community, by participating in seminars in Bangkok, Thailand; Johannesburg, South Africa; Mexico; and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
