Women's Professional Soccer selects Pereira & O'Dell for spring campaign

Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) has selected San Francisco-based ad agency Pereira & O'Dell to do its marketing for the Spring 2010 season, the league's second.

The season kicks off April 10, 2010 with nine teams, including first-year teams in Atlanta and Philadelphia. Pereira & O'Dell will work with WPS to create an integrated ad campaign to launch in March 2010. The campaign will be aimed at retaining existing fans and acquiring new ones.

WPS's sponsors and marketing partners include Puma, Hint Essence Water and the US Coast Guard.

This season's marketing efforts will include social media marketing and connecting to fans in communities.

“Soccer has a unique and powerful ability to mobilize fans,” said PJ Pereira, chief creative officer at Pereira & O'Dell, in a statement. “We want to channel that passion to build an active community connecting fans with players and build buzz and anticipation for the 2010 season.”
