WI Senator Revives DNC Push

Wisconsin state Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Middleton, has announced plans in the next legislative session to reintroduce a bill that would create a do-not-call list in the state.

The bill includes fines up to $10,000 for telemarketers that violate the statute. The bill would exempt charities, businesses calling consumers with whom they have an existing business relationship, and small-business owners who make the calls personally.

Erpenbach sponsored a similar bill during the previous legislative session, but it was not voted on and died when the session ended.
