West & Vaughan Pitches to Baseball America

Baseball America Inc., which publishes the biweekly Baseball America publication, has named West & Vaughan, Durham, NC, to handle its $1 million account as advertising agency of record.

Participants in the month-long review, which included a media-use proposal and creative credentials, were not disclosed. Ads previously were handled inhouse.

West & Vaughan will use a combination of direct mail, magazine, TV and Internet ads to target baseball fans.

Sold recently by Miles Wolff -- who once owned the Durham Bulls -- Baseball America is run by an ownership group that includes publisher Lee Folger. The publication covers all levels of the game.

Other clients of West & Vaughan include CarQuest, Central Carolina Bank, Biscuitville and the Brick Association. Billings last year were $41 million.
