West Buys ConferenceCall.com for $38.5 Million

Teleservices provider West Corp. announced the expansion yesterday of its presence in the teleconferencing industry with its $38.5 million purchase of ConferenceCall.com.

West, Omaha, NE, entered teleconferencing in March with the acquisition of conferencing provider InterCall for $399.6 million. After the ConferenceCall purchase is completed Nov. 1, West will integrate ConferenceCall with InterCall. However, the two will maintain separate brand and market presences.

ConferenceCall.com, Dallas, provides teleconferencing through the Internet. In a statement, West said the purchase would bring it new conferencing-related URLs, Internet marketing capabilities and new marketing tools.

According to West, ConferenceCall is expected to generate annual revenue of $18 million and operating income of $8 million with an operating margin of about 44 percent. West said it does not expect ConferenceCall to contribute to its overall net income this year due to the approaching holiday season but plans to see benefits in 2004.
