Web Site Offers Short Stories for $1 or Less
Literary site Fictionwise.com will offer its visitors the works of several short story writers, including Robert Silverberg, Mike Resnick and Nancy Krees.The site, a property of Mindwise Media LLC, will sell the downloadable stories for 30 cents to $1 via credit card payments. Fictionwise also offers a payment program that allows viewers to accrue a negative balance by downloading stories over the course of an allotted time, therefore avoiding minimum credit transaction fees imposed on most cardholders.
Fictionwise, Chatham, NJ, offers 100 stories but plans to increase that number to more than 500 by 2001. The site also plans to launch give-away programs.
