Weather Channel Revamps Desktop Weather Tool

The Weather Channel introduced a new version of Desktop Weather, a downloadable desktop application yielding localized weather and lifestyle information.


The makeover includes new entertainment features such as videos and photographs, plus improvements in navigation and design.


Desktop Weather has severe-weather alerts, tools like hourly, three-day and 10-day forecasts, maps, daily video and photos and lifestyle content on golf, fitness and skiing.


On the advertising side, Desktop Weather will have broader reach and more segmentation, supported by rich media and improved graphics. Advertisers include Hilton Garden Inn, Vonage, Walgreens, Holiday Inn Express, Celebrity Cruises, Sprint, LowerMyBills, The New York Times and Patanol.
