Washington DMA Names Executive Director

The Direct Marketing Association of Washington appointed Dawn Hatzer as its new executive director, the group said yesterday.


Hatzer has more than 17 years of experience, dividing her career between working as an association professional and in local government. She served as director of the Institute for Organization Management, the continuing-education program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Before that, she worked for the Academy for State and Local Government, a nonprofit organization.


Hatzer has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, WV, and Mount Saint Mary's College, Emmitsburg, MD, teaching in business communications, public speaking and labor problems. She is also active in professional associations including serving as chair of the Government and Public Affairs Advisory Council of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives.


She has a bachelor of science in political science from Shepherd College and a master of science from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, Shippensburg, PA.
