Walmart, ASPCA kick off social media fundraising campaign

Walmart has partnered with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) on a social media campaign to raise money for the nonprofit.

The “Lend a Paw” campaign, which runs through April - Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month - encourages consumers to visit facebook.com/lendapaw and post messages to raise money for the ASPCA. Walmart will donate $1 for each post up to $100,000. The Facebook donation page also encourages consumers to donate money directly to the cause and find out how to adopt a pet.

Throughout April, ASPCA is running a “Go Orange” photo contest, which encourages consumers to share photos of their pets wearing the ASPCA's official color. Consumers who submit the best photos will win ASPCA prize packs.

Pet-related companies, including Iams, Pedigree and Fresh Step, are also partners on the “Lend a Paw” campaign.
