W3 Data Buys 411.com

W3 Data, the parent company of WhitePages.com, said last week that it bought online directory 411.com from 911 Inc.

411.com joins Seattle-based W3 Data's WhitePages.com Network, which includes whitepages.com, whitepages.ca and phonenumber.com. The network also runs Find Person, an individual locator used by 1,300 partner sites.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, the WhitePages.com Network drew 5.9 million unique visitors in June, ranking it as the No. 5 online directory destination.

Terms of the deal for 411.com were not disclosed.

Online directory services have looked to cash in on the growth of the paid search market. According to Kelsey Group, local paid search advertising could be worth $2.5 billion in 2008.
