Viking Office Products to Open in Switzerland

Viking Office Products said yesterday that it will start a direct mail business and Internet site in Switzerland.

The company, a subsidiary of Office Depot, anticipates opening a logistics and call center later this year or in early 2002 in a warehouse in Lenzburg.

The company plans to offer 24-hour delivery from the warehouse for customers in the German-speaking region of Switzerland and later in the French-speaking region. The call center will have both native French- and German-speaking staff.

Viking also plans to open a new Internet site in Switzerland, www.vikingdirekt.com, in mid-2002. The site will incorporate popular features already on its other international sites, including Quick Order by Stock Number, which allows customers to place catalog orders online; and Supplies QuickFind, which helps customers identify correct supplies for their business machines.
