Vermont Teddy Bear Advances Calyx & Corolla Integration

The Vermont Teddy Bear Co. announced late Friday the completion of the first phase of its plan to integrate specific functions of Calyx & Corolla into its operations in Shelburne, VT.

Vermont Teddy Bear acquired Calyx & Corolla Aug. 29.

All of Calyx's California operations were eliminated in September when inventory and order processing and fulfillment operations -- and related information technology and equipment -- were relocated to Vermont. The company at that time also terminated Calyx's contract with a third-party call center and moved all call center operations to Vermont Teddy Bear's facilities in Vermont.

Since September, the company has transitioned Calyx's Florida-based IT, accounting and finance and human resources functions to Vermont, leaving only the merchandising and brand-related marketing functions in the downsized Vero Beach, FL, offices.

Vermont Teddy Bear also announced Friday net revenue of $5 million for the three months ended Sept. 30 compared with $5.1 million in the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2002. The company also posted a net loss for the quarter of $183,000 versus a net loss of $87,000 in the same quarter last year.

Calyx & Corolla provides direct-from-the-grower floral gifts via its catalog, by phone or online at www.calyxandcorolla.com.
