Verizon Expands BTB E-Mail Services

Verizon Online recently debuted its virus-scanning system for e-mail aimed at small and midsize businesses.

The system was designed to scan and identify computer viruses, worms and other forms of malicious code in e-mail attachments. Adding to its outsourced e-mail delivery service, the Reston, VA-based telecommunications firm hopes to expand its niche in the business-to-business e-mail sector.

"While no Internet security system is ever 100 percent infallible, we think [these] security products provide an increased level of security against computer viruses that was not previously available to small-business users," said Tim Eggleston, director of business services at Verizon.

Verizon also offers support and disaster-recovery e-mail services.
