Verizon expanding its network

Verizon Wireless announced plans to open its network to outside mobile handsets, devices and applications by the end of 2008. It will publish a set of technical standards early next year.
Verizon Wireless customers can use any device that meets these minimum technical standards with any application they choose. Devices will need to use the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless standard to connect to Verizon's network and will be tested in a $20 million lab facility. Pricing details have yet to be announced.
