Vanguard Site Takes Bids on Flights

Vanguard Airlines has launched an online product that lets customers with flexible travel plans name their own price for Vanguard flights, the company said Dec. 7. The tool, SkyBid, is available at www.flyvanguard.com.

Customers can use it to bid on flights from two to 21 days before departure. Bids are accepted based on factors such as bid price, overall passenger demand and the date and time of travel. Vanguard lets customers submit general time preferences but said a greater range of time provided means a better chance of having the bid accepted.

Vanguard, Kansas City, MO, contacts the customer via e-mail within 24 hours as to whether the bid was accepted. The customers' credit card is charged once the bid is accepted.
