ValueClick Will Buy Rival Ad Network Fastclick

ValueClick Inc. agreed to buy Fastclick Inc. for $214 million in stock, creating an advertising network of more than 9,000 third-party Web sites reaching an estimated 112 million unique online users in the United States.

The transaction, announced yesterday, will make Fastclick a wholly owned subsidiary of ValueClick, Westlake Village, CA. ValueClick expects to save up to $4 million yearly from the absorption of its Santa Barbara, CA, rival.

The deal should close in the fourth quarter.

ValueClick owns properties like ValueClick Media, affiliate marketing firm Commission Junction and Mediaplex.
