USPS PMG Potter Names Acting COO

Pat Donahoe has been appointed the U.S. Postal Service's acting chief operating officer and executive vice president, and John Rapp has been named acting senior vice president of operations. Postmaster general Jack Potter made the announcements Friday.

Both assignments were effective Saturday.

Donahoe, the former senior vice president of operations, succeeds Dave Solomon, who had been assigned to the position in an acting capacity since June 5. Solomon returns to his regular position as vice president of area operations for the New York metropolitan area. Rapp had been vice president of delivery.

Potter had been the agency's chief operating officer before he was named postmaster general June 1.
