USPS Offers Hold Mail, Redelivery Services Online

The U.S. Postal Service's hold mail and redelivery services are now available online.

Postal customers have been able to request hold mail or redelivery services through the agency's toll-free number, 800-ASK-USPS, since 1996. Using the online service, which debuted Oct. 30, customers go to www.usps.com and select Mail Delivery. A window pops up with two choices: Hold Mail or Redelivery. Customers make their selection and fill out the appropriate forms.

The services are not available in all ZIP codes. Customers can enter their ZIP code at the site to find out the services supported in their ZIP code. There is no charge for either service.

Online tests of both services took place in Baltimore and Philadelphia from June through October. The services averaged 5,000 customers per month during the test.
