USPS Gives BlueMountain Arts Permission to use E-Mail Stamp

In observance of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the U.S. Postal Service has given permission to BlueMountain Arts, the leading online greeting card company, to use the Breast Cancer Research stamp on an electronic greeting card


The greeting card portal allows consumers to enter a recipient's email address and a brief message. The card, bearing the stamp illustration and message ``Fund the Fight, Find a Cure'' is then sent over the Internet. Sending the card is free.


Using the Breast Cancer Research stamp on an electronic greeting was suggested by Hope Springs Press, an eBook publisher whose newest title, ``First Aid Yourself, Essential Breast Cancer Websites'' by Betsy Dance, also uses the stamp illustration and raises money for breast cancer prevention research.


``This inspirational stamp should be everywhere,'' said Hope Springs Publisher Robin Lind. ``One great advantage of online electronic cards is that they can be delivered on a specific date -- especially helpful for annual mammogram reminders."


Mark Rinella, BlueMountain general manager, said "we're proud to add this important stamp to our Breast Cancer Awareness Web site…and delighted to offer our online technology to send the first email stamp for such a good cause.''


The Breast Cancer Research semi-postal sells for $.40 to mail a $.33 first class letter; the additional seven cents goes to cancer research. Originally approved for two years, it was re-authorized in July for another two years after more than 195 million stamps had been sold.
