USPS Authorizes Quebecor Mail Center for Co-Palletization Program

Quebecor World's Trenton, NJ, mailing center has been approved by the U.S. Postal Service to participate in the new periodical co-palletization program.

In the two-year experiment, publishers, printers and consolidators can receive discounts when they combine bundles and packages of different periodicals on the same pallet and drop-ship them to an area distribution center or sectional center facility.

The discount is 0.7 cents per piece on combined bundles sent to area distribution centers and 1 cent per piece on bundles sent to sectional center facilities.

The USPS said several printers applied for the experiment. Quebecor World said it is the first company to be authorized by the USPS. Authorization is granted based on a mailer's ability to provide a documentation method for mail pieces that are eligible for the new discount.

Presently, Quebecor World's Trenton Mailing Center co-mails more than 80 publications and supplemental mailings.
