Univision Debuts Home-Buying Online Channel for Hispanic Community

Univision Online Inc., the online subsidiary of Univision Communications Inc., a Spanish-language entertainment network, yesterday debuted a Web site designed to assist Hispanic consumers with home buying.

The channel, labeled Casa, can be found at http://casa.univision.com. The site was developed in conjunction with Countrywide Home Loans Inc., a mortgage and insurance provider, and Fannie Mae, a home mortgage financer.

The Casa channel provides consumers with information about the mortgage process, when and how to refinance a mortgage, an overview of home improvement projects and financing, a glossary of mortgage-related terms and Fannie Mae's True Cost Calculator.

The True Cost Calculator helps consumers figure the costs of obtaining a mortgage, insurance, appraisal fees, title insurance fees and other settlement charges. Countrywide Home Loans provides consumers with the ability to apply for a loan on the channel.

The site also offers consumers advice on home decoration, gardening, home remodeling and repairs.

Univision.com consists of four components: a news channel, an entertainment and sports section, a branded shopping channel and an Internet service provider network.
