University of North Carolina Picks DataFlux

The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill has acquired a site license for the use of DataFlux Corp.'s data quality and data integration solutions, DataFlux, Cary, NC, said yesterday.

The university will use DataFlux solutions to cleanse, enhance and integrate data used in a variety of research projects.

The first department to use the software will be the School of Social Work to track and analyze the effect of welfare reform on people in North Carolina. The School of Social Work has constructed a number of large databases that track every family and individual that has been on North Carolina's Work First assistance and food stamp programs.

A challenge the department faced was how to standardize and link the various databases to track and follow individuals through those programs as well as the number of cases in particular counties.
