United Way deploys CRM system across volunteer groups

United Way of America has enlisted Bluewolf to help integrate its database with a CRM system.

The nonprofit group will deploy the Bluewolf Integrator to integrate Salesforce.com's CRM program with its in-house Microsoft SQL server database. United Way's database logs registrations, donations and volunteer work. With a CRM system in place, local chapters now have a standardized way to track potential donors and opportunities, and maintain contacts and accounts.

This information will now be automatically synched with Salesforce each time a local volunteer posts an update. Inversely, visitors to the Web site will be able to view membership data maintained in Salesforce. This two-way synch means that, when one member updates information online, all 1,300 United Way member organizations can see the change in real time.

Michael Pinck, director of application management for the United Way of America, said the group chose Bluewolf because the system could be used and managed in-house, reducing costs for the nonprofit group.

Several other nonprofits, including The Crissy Field Center and Points of Light Foundation, have employed the Bluewolf Integrator, thanks, in part to its price point. The program costs $17,000 for an annual subscription, but qualifying nonprofit groups are afforded a 50% discount on the purchase price.

Bluewolf provides on-demand consulting, software and remote services to clients such as Bank of America, General Electric, Staples and the Wall Street Journal. The company is headquartered in New York.
