Unit 7 moves Cupani to vice chairman

Omnicom Group Inc.'s Unit 7 relationship marketing agency elevated Joe Cupani to vice chairman, a new position created and added to his existing chief creative officer's post. Cupani will continue reporting to Unit 7 chairman/CEO Loreen Babcock, giving creative a more visible role on the agency board of directors.

Cupani joined Unit 7 -- then known as LLKF&B -- in 2003 after a stint as chief creative officer at Wunderman New York. This promotion comes a year after Unit 7, New York, hired Lita Sands away from Pfizer as client services director. She was later promoted to the agency's chief marketing officer.

In another recent appointments to boost prospects at Unit 7, Rob Peterson was named chief strategy officer after working at shops like Messner and Merkley + Partners, and Ross Quinn was tapped as chief collaboration officer.

Since its relaunch, Unit 7 has added clients like Shire and Cancer Treatment Centers to a list that includes MasterCard, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Pfizer and Air France.
