Unica Buys MarketSoft for $7.25 Million

Unica Corp. said yesterday that it acquired privately held MarketSoft Software Corp. for $7.25 million in cash. Unica also assumed specified liabilities in buying substantially all of MarketSoft's assets, including its technology and customer contracts.


Unica said the acquisition will let it offer a solution that combines lead management and EMM. One-third of MarketSoft's customers use Unica's Affinium suite.


Unica also announced updated expectations for operating results for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2006. The expectations are subject to variability since they are based on preliminary estimates and judgments relating to MarketSoft. Revenue is expected to be $78 million to $79.5 million, and non-GAAP operating income is to be $8.75 million to $9.25 million.
