Unica Buys French Campaign Management Firm

Unica Corp. said Friday that it acquired Marketic, a subsidiary of France's Groupe DDB, the second-largest global communications group.

The privately held Unica would not disclose the price. But Yuchun Lee, Unica co-founder/CEO, said the deal was in the single-digit million-dollar range.

Marketic is the leading provider of campaign management in Europe. With the deal, Unica gains more than 100 customers -- expanding its worldwide customer base to 300 and, the company said, making it the largest worldwide provider of marketing software. It also bolsters its position in sectors such as financial services, retail and telecom. Marketic customers include Disneyland Paris, Orange, Credit Lyonnais, Groupe Cofinoga and Peugeot.

Unica, Waltham, MA, will continue to sell Marketic solutions, which include software for campaign management and loyalty marketing. Also, Unica's Affinium suite will be available in a version for the French market in June.
