UBid Auctions to Be Promoted Across iWon, Excite Portals

Online auction site uBid has signed a deal with the Excite Network to promote its auction item listings across the iWon.com and Excite.com Web portals.

Under the agreement, Chicago-based uBid will be the exclusive provider of online auctions for Excite.com and iWon.com. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Users can place bids through an auctions tab on the co-branded Excite.com and iWon.com portals. The agreement calls for content integration, sponsorship and advertising, incorporating uBid's brand and links throughout the Excite.com and iWon.com portals.

Excite Network, based in Irvington, NY, was formed in November through the acquisition of the Excite.com portal by iWon.com, following the collapse of Excite@Home.

UBid, with more than 3 million registered users, is majority-owned by Internet incubator CMGI Inc. The company features auctions on brand-name consumer electronics, travel and events. Bids start at $9.
