Tumbleweed Communications Receives Patent

E-mail security firm Tumbleweed Communications Corp. received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a method and apparatus for demonstrating and confirming the status of digital certificates and other data.

The new patent for Redwood City, CA-based Tumbleweed is titled, "Apparatus and Method from Demonstrating and Confirming the Status of Digital Certificates and Other Data."

The U.S. patent is No. 7,073,056.

The new patent is a continuation of U.S. patent No. 6,532,540, which is a divisional of Patent No. 5,903,651 filed on May 14, 1996.

This is the 23rd patent in Tumbleweed's portfolio, which is made up of U.S. utility patents covering secure communication over Internet standards.
