TRUSTe Requests Input on Privacy Guidelines

Privacy seal provider TRUSTe hasrequested feedback for its preliminary privacy guidelines for businesses undergoing mergers, acquisitions and bankruptcies.

The guidelines were posted on the Web at www.truste.org last week and will remain available for public comment for 60 days. They are based on the principles of mandated third-party oversight; consumer notice and choice; and upholding existing privacy policies.

TRUSTe is a nonprofit online privacy organization that grants its seal of approval to Web sites with comprehensive, accessible and readable privacy agreements. Companies deemed worthy of the program must sign a contract with TRUSTe that ensures adherence to the approved privacy policy.
