Tribune Co. Sells Stake in Digital City to AOL

Tribune Co. said Friday it sold 20 percent of its stake in Digital City Inc., a local entertainment guide, to America Online and entered into a content alliance with the company.


The Tribune Co., Chicago, will provide AOL, Dulles, VA, with local news and information in 14 cities where Tribune owns newspapers.


Digital City offers individual Web sites an entertainment guide, local news and sports and visitor information for more than 60 U.S. cities, including Chicago and New York.


The Tribune Co. will also promote Digital City in its newspapers and on its TV stations. In turn, Digital City will promote the Tribune's African-American Web site, BlackVoices.com.
