Travelocity Picks Centerpost to Provide Customer E-Alerts

Centerpost Corp. later this summer will provide electronic alerts to the digital pagers, mobile phones and personal digital assistants of Travelocity.com customers.

The new service will allow Travelocity customers to choose which method of contact they prefer and which types of alerts they wish to receive. They will have the option of receiving alerts on their mobile devices about flight delays, schedule changes, cancellations, weather and other travel information.

Details of the agreement between Fort Worth, TX-based Centerpost and Travelocity were not released.

Chicago-based Travelocity, an online travel marketer, first began using wireless technology in 1997 when it offered customers digital notices by pager with information about flight arrivals and departures.
