The 1999 United States Trade Mission to Europe for Direct Marketing will take place March 14-19 in Frankfurt, London and Madrid.

The delegation, made up of U.S. telemarketing and direct marketing executives, will meet with high-ranking government officials, representatives of the European Community and leading direct marketers. Delegates will attend presentations on mailing lists, currencies, databases, media, shipping, tariffs, taxes, and other areas of interest to direct marketers, telemarketers and publishers.

"The 1999 European Trade Mission is concentrating on Germany, UK and Spain because more and more U.S. firms are expanding to these three large European markets," said Bill McNutt, leader of the trade mission and president of International Direct Marketing Consultants Inc., Dallas.

The impact of the euro on European commerce will be a major focus of the trip. "The new euro currency will change the pricing and sales policies for every American company interested in Europe," McNutt said. "This trip will focus on how to deal with the new situation and turn it to your best advantage."

Delegates will also tour facilities of U.S. direct marketing firms operating in Europe, including Viking Business Supplies, Lands' End, New England Business Systems, and Paper Direct.

This is the 11th U.S. trade mission to Europe. Companies who have participated in earlier trade missions include L.L. Bean, Talbots, Lab Safety Supply, Collin Street Bakery, American Bankers Insurance Group, Group One Software, First of Omaha Merchant Processing, Harte-Hanks Marketing Services, TeleQuest Telemarketing, ICT Group, Damark, Neiman Marcus and Moore Marketing Services.

The delegation is limited to representatives from 10 companies. Those interested in participating should contact McNutt or Karen Dunne at International Direct Marketing Consultants, Inc., 3419 Westminster, Lock Box 209, Dallas, TX 75205. Or call 214/443-9494 (voice) or 214/443-9512 (fax).
