Integrated relationship marketing firm Townsend Agency, Rosemont, IL, was named agency of record for SurePayroll.com, a 100 percent Internet-based payroll service.

Townsend's first marketing campaign for the client targets small business owners in eight metropolitan areas.

"The campaign integrates offline direct with a variety of Web marketing techniques, including a Web-based demonstration of the service," said David Ives, Townsend's president.

"We will integrate all direct channels on a database marketing platform. This will allow us to gather detailed customer and prospect information, monitor results and continually improve our efforts."

Unlike traditional payroll service providers, SurePayroll will use the Internet for every aspect of the payroll process. According to Rob Engelman, vice president of marketing at SurePayroll, the company makes it possible for "small business owners to easily initiate payroll changes and access information from a secure Internet site anywhere, anytime."

He said, "Townsend Agency will be providing the integrated marketing focus we need. Its scientific approach will measure results each step of the way, helping us develop our brand and build our customer base."
