TNT Express Rolls Out Pacs

TNT Express, a provider of express business-to-business delivery services, announced the global rollout of Pacs, a pre-arrival clearance system that it said will speed up the clearance of international shipments through U.S. Customs by up to eight hours.

TNT developed Pacs with Fujitsu Services, the European-based IT services arm of the Fujitsu Group in the UK.

With the service, mandatory paperwork about international packages, such as a description of the goods and their taxable value, can be forwarded for inspection to Customs officials several hours before the shipment arrives at its destination.

Staff at TNT's clearance gateways globally will be using Pacs by the end of October.
