Tilia Taps Hill, Holliday

Tilia Inc., maker of FoodSaver home vacuum packaging systems, appointed Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopulos, San Francisco, as its agency of record.

The agency will handle national advertising, direct marketing and media planning and buying. Billings are estimated at $5 million to $10 million.

Those pitching for the business included Grey Global Group's Grey Advertising, Publicis Groupe's Publicis Dialog and WPP Group's Young & Rubicam, all San Francisco.

Historically an infomercial-driven company, Tilia now seeks to sell through retail channels. It claims its FoodSaver home vacuum packaging appliance keeps food fresh three to five times longer simply by storing it without exposure to oxygen. It also prevents freezer burn.

Jarden Corp. bought Tilia last year.
