Tiffany & Co. aids ring-shopping with iPhone app

Luxury jewelry retailer Tiffany & Co. has introduced an iPhone and iPod Touch application that lets shoppers browse engagement rings and size them. The app, known as the “Engagement Ring Finder,” was developed in response to consumer demand and launched June 14.

“The new iPhone engagement ring app provides another access point to Tiffany's expertise and knowledge,” said Carson Glover, director of media relations for Tiffany Co.

Consumers can use the app's “ring sizer,” which determines a shopper's ring size by placing a virtual on-screen ring on a consumer's finger. The app, which took Tiffany's interactive marketing team several months to develop, also shows rings at their actual size and allows consumers to view diamonds of different carat sizes. Consumers can save or share their favorite rings via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.

Shoppers can make appointments to visit Tiffany's locations using the app, but they cannot make purchases.
