Teradata Signs Sainsbury's

Teradata, a division of NCR Corp., has signed a software deal with Sainsbury's Supermarkets.

The London-based food retailer is replacing its Oracle Corp. data warehouse product with Teradata's, according to NCR, Dayton, OH.

The system also will support the implementation of Teradata's customer relationship management Version 4 software and will allow Sainsbury's to drive more targeted and personalized communications.

Sainsbury's selected the Teradata software after evaluating a number of offerings from other companies. Sainsbury's worked with Accenture, which recently was awarded a contract to outsource and replatform the retailer's information technology infrastructure.

The data warehouse and CRM software will be implemented over the next 18 months at Accenture and Sainsbury's IT center in London.

Teradata's other data warehousing customers include Office Depot Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sears, Roebuck and Co.
