Talbots Reports Higher Catalog Sales in Q2

The Talbots Inc., Hingham, MA, announced yesterday that net income for the second quarter ended Aug. 2 totaled $18.5 million, down from $20 million last year.


Catalog sales, however, increased 6 percent to $50.2 million compared with $47.4 million for the fiscal quarter last year.


For the recently concluded six-month period, net income was $47.9 million, down from $55 million last year. Catalog sales decreased 1 percent to $116 million from $117 million in the six-month period last year.


Its catalog operation expects to circulate about 48 million catalogs worldwide in fiscal 2003.
