'Taboo' Effort Pushes Ticket Sales

A new online campaign for upcoming Broadway musical "Taboo" began yesterday in conjunction with a press conference with producer Rosie O'Donnell and star Boy George carried live by streaming video.

The effort will push ticket sales, a function managed by Telecharge.com. Exciting New Technologies, New York, hosted the live streaming press conference.

More than 3 million registered e-mail subscribers will be targeted on lists from 15 news, entertainment, music, theater and gay Web sites. Keyword purchases, pop-up ads and an online fan chat round off this ambitious effort to sell "Taboo" tickets online.

The media buy includes Playbill.com, Rosie.com, Theatremania.com, NewYorkMagazine.com, NYTimes.com, Planetout.com, AmericanExpress.com, VillageVoice.com and Gay.com.

"Taboo" begins performances Oct. 24 in New York's Plymouth Theater and opens to a wider audience Nov. 13. A Web address at www.tabooonbroadway.com is the musical's online home.
