Survey.com Says Business Intelligence Will Grow In Europe

Survey.com, Campbell, CA, an e-research company, last week released research results showing that the European business intelligence and data warehousing, or BI/DW, market will grow exceptionally well in the next several years. According to Survey.com, BI/DW applications are expected to grow four to five times by 2002, and expenditures on BI/DW solutions in Europe are projected to grow by 85 percent over the next three years.

Survey.com also said that Oracle and Microsoft are leading the way in mind share for BI/DW software in the expanding European market. IBM is third, followed closely by Cognos and Business Objects. Key business problems being addressed by BI/DW solutions in Europe -- the more traditional financial and sales analysis applications, as well as CRM, supply-side analysis and employee-related analysis -- are much the same as those in North America, "though on a slightly smaller scale," Survey.com reported.
