Super Bowl Hype Boosts Traffic to Pets.com

Pets.com's Super Bowl (one week ago) Sunday traffic grew by more than 220 percent over the previous Sunday, according to survey results released Friday by PC Data Online, Reston, VA. Fifteen percent of the visitors -- between Super Bowl Sunday and the following Wednesday -- were new to the site this year. Between December and January, the site has experienced an 18 percent conversion rate of shoppers to buyers.


The competitiveness of the online pet-store business -- and the resulting heavy advertising campaigns -- has enhanced the awareness of shopping for pet products online, according to PC Data Online.
