Sunrise Chooses Teradata Over Oracle

Sunrise, Switzerland's second largest telecommunications provider, said it will replace its existing Oracle data marts with a single Teradata database.

According to Sunrise, the new architecture will allow the company to consolidate multiple, costly data marts into one Teradata system. Decision makers will be able to use and analyze transaction data from various business units for the first time.

Teradata will provide a highly scalable relational database management system for Sunrise transaction data, services and training. Sunrise also has elected to utilize the Teradata Communications Logical Data Model as a guideline for future warehouse activities.

Teradata is a division of NCR Corp. Teradata services include the Teradata database, and analytical applications for customer relationship management, operations and financial management, business performance management and e-business.
