Structural Graphics Acquires Rival Firm

Structural Graphics, a dimensional marketing company, purchased rival Intervisual Communications, the acquiring firm said yesterday. Intervisual brings strong sourcing relationships in Latin America, Mexico, Europe and Asia and also improves Structural Graphics' access to the U.S. market.

Structural Graphics, a privately held company, did not disclose the value of the acquisition. The companies have a combined library of 40,000 innovative dimensional images for clients to choose from.

Intervisual Communications, Santa Monica, CA, and Structural Graphics have been competitors for 20 years. Structural Graphics uses lights, sounds and paper design to develop memorable marketing materials. The Essex, CT, company specializes in direct mail, inserts, sales aids, point-of-sale and dimensional packaging.

Top Intervisual clients include agencies Leo Burnett, Chicago, and BBDO, New York.

"Increasingly, brand leaders are considering dimensional marketing a key ingredient in their marketing mix, as it continues to prove to be a memorable and cost-effective marketing vehicle," said Mike Maguire, owner/CEO of Structural Graphics.

Structural Graphics has 48 U.S. workers and employs 500 in its two production plants in Mexico. It plans to keep all Intervisual staff.
