StrongMail Gets $6M in Funding

E-mail infrastructure provider StrongMail said this week that it received $6 million in financing from Sequoia Capital and Evercore ventures.

The funding, which is the company's first institutional financing, is earmarked for expansion of StrongMail's enterprise e-mail delivery system. The hosted solution is used by large enterprises for mass mailings of up to one million e-mails per hour. The company boasts that it can increase e-mail delivery rates 40 percent compared to most e-mail providers.

As part of the deal, Mark Kvamme from Sequoia and Sangam Pant of Evercore have joined the Los Angeles company's board of directors.
