Staples, ADP Form Marketing Pact

Staples Inc. and Automatic Data Processing Inc. have entered into a revenue-sharing and online-offline cross-marketing agreement. ADP reps in all 970 Staples stores will pitch their payroll solution services and integrated human resources platforms to Staples' small-business owner clients within the next three months.

In addition, business owners will be able to access information about ADP services via Staples.com, which has more than 1 million registered users.

Executives from both companies declined to reveal the financial breakdown of the deal, but they said Staples will get a percentage of each completed transaction made by ADP.

Officials from both companies added that effective immediately, ADP reps will be stationed in 88 Staples stores in California and Arizona, offering personal consultation to small-business owners about the company's services.

An ADP spokeswoman added that by the end of June, sales specialists from ADP would be on hand nationwide at all 970 Staples outlets.
