Stamps.com Introduces Hidden Postage

Stamps.com offers a new shipping capability called Hidden Postage that lets its PC Postage customers print a shipping label that does not contain the cost of the postage, the company announced this week.

It is designed to reduce complaints from customers who might object to shipping and handling charges after seeing the postage.

"The cost of fulfilling an order involves not only postage, but also packaging, labor and handling," said Kyle Huebner, vice president of marketing and strategy at Stamps.com. "By hiding the postage amount of the shipment, businesses can more easily cover their full shipping and handling costs without causing customer complaints."

Hidden Postage is an advantage that PC Postage customers have over traditional postage meter users and retail post office customers, Stamps.com said, since neither of those methods can hide the postage cost on shipping labels.

With Hidden Postage, Stamps.com customers have the option of printing shipping labels with or without the postage value displayed.

The feature is currently available to Power Plan customers only, who are high-volume mailers in small offices, small businesses, corporate departments or branch offices.
