St. Louis printer installs first Presstek 52DI press

Murray Print Shop in St. Louis is the first print service provider in North America to install a Presstek 52DI press, a highly automated 52cm sheetfed four-color digital offset printing press that is being introduced this weekend at Graph Expo in Chicago.

The Presstek 52DI's plate handling process in completely automatic, eliminating the need to load and unload plates between jobs. The press also features Presstek's Zero Transfer Printing, in which all four colors are laid down on the sheet without transfer between grippers, thereby improving consistency and expanding the range of printing media the Presstek 52DI can print on.

Like most printers, Murray is faced with an increasing demand for four-color printing with shorter runs and faster turnaround times. The Presstek 52DI's larger format size and increased throughput will let the company to produce more printing projects per day while keeping up with the demands of its customers.

The 52DI is appropriate for digital printers, commercial printers and smaller printers using two-color presses who wish to cost-effectively produce short-run four-color work in runs of 250 to 20,000, according to Presstek, Hudson, NH.
