Spates Named Acting V.P., Consumer Advocate

Postmaster General John E. Potter named U.S. Postal Service delivery operations manager Michael Spates acting vice president and consumer advocate Feb. 4.


Spates will oversee the postal service's consumer affairs department.


The 33-year USPS employee has served in his current position since 1994. He previously held managerial positions in delivery and retail management, processing operations, transportation rates and analysis and stamp acquisition and distribution. He also served as executive assistant to the deputy postmaster general from 1987 to 1989.
