SparkLIST.com Breaks Quarter-Billion Mark for E-Mail Lists in March

SparkLIST.com said that it delivered 254 million e-mail messages in March.

The Milwaukee-based company, which provides e-mail list hosting services, said its message volume has been growing by double digits each month. SparkLIST has been providing e-mail hosting since 1996.

In contrast, DoubleClick said its FloNetwork subsidiary sent 996 million e-mail messages in the first quarter of the year, or about 332 million e-mails per month. DoubleClick's DARTmail served 727 million e-mails in the first quarter, or about 242 million a month, the company said.

SparkLIST said the 254 million messages that it delivered in March do not include list administrator e-mail messages; subscribe and unsubscribe requests; and other messages, such as welcome documents.

"Even with our steady growth, a quarter-billion messages is certainly a big milestone for SparkLIST," Christopher Knight, SparkLIST's CEO, said in a statement.

SparkLIST hosts more than 3,100 permission-based opt-in e-mail lists, with more than 37 million members.
