Sony Corp. Launches A Japanese-only Internet Site

Sony Corporation, Japan, launched a Japanese-only Internet site yesterday dedicated to selling consumer goods over the Internet. The site, www.jp.sonystyle.com, will -- for the first time -- allow consumers to purchase and receive information on any Sony electronic products directly from the company.

At this time, there are no plans for the company to launch a similarly comprehensive site in the United States. The site is the first venture of the company's new online network marketing company Sony Style.com Japan Inc. The products are divided into four separate e-commerce zones, but at this time consumers may only place orders on the VAIO zone, whose content closely matches that of the Sony Corporation of America's site, which allows Americans to buy only a limited number of products. Three other zones will roll out by the end of March.
